In the overwhelming role of Mireille, Gabrielle Philiponet succeeds in meeting the vocal and scenic requirements expected of a lyric-light soprano at the start of the work, frankly dramatic from the fourth act on. Naturally fresh and light in the two duets, displaying quite virtuosic coloraturas at the end of « Trahir Vincent », the voice has all the necessary robustness for the large ensembles of act 2 and 4, and tackles without damage the formidable air of the Crau. A great performance, vocal and stage wise, which should count in the young soprano's career.

Gabrielle Philiponet takes over the title role [...] of a soft and silky voice in the middle register, more brassy in the treble, always vibrant. She draws from her phrasing a nobility matching her character. Although her voice is quite heavy for the first part, she generally

It is first of all the title role that arouses enthusiasm : Mireille by Gabrielle Philiponet is quite simply ideal, quivering, elegiac, with a strong and assertive character. The culmination is just as vocal: laughing, playful during the duet of the second act with Vincent, nostalgic, lyrical in the aria of the IV («Heureux, petit berger»), with remarkable poise and assertiveness during the formidable crossing of the Crau. increasingly heavy and dramatic roles...
